I am a fully qualified and experienced freelance translator - keen to raise standards in the profession - I have a Master of Arts Degree in Translation from the University of Portsmouth

I am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists and an Associate Member of Interpretation and Translation Institute.

My name is KAT SKRZYNIARZ

I'm a qualified English-Polish translator

MY EDUCATION

I graduated from the University of Portsmouth and obtained a Master of Arts Degree in Translations. Moreover, I hold a Bachelor Degree (Honours) from Open University and Licencjat Degree in English Literature from Wroclaw University. I am also a holder a Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (Health option) from Chartered Institute of Linguists and Diploma in Policing from the University of Stirling

PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS

I am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists and an Associate of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting. I am also a volunteer verified translator for Translators without Borders.

MY EXPERIENCE

I have been working in legal and medical fields for over 14 years in Scotland and before I came to Scotland I also worked in the technical field (mining). I have been working as a freelance translator for the City of Edinburgh Council, NHS Lothian, Social Care Services, Prison Service, Police, Courts, Housing Advice Services etc.

I specialise and have a keen interest in medicine, pharmacy, veterinary science and law. Diploma in Policing gave me the important insight into Scottish Law - both criminal and civil, which cannot be easily obtained outside police service. I also have worked as an interpreter for public services such as health, local authority, housing, justice etc. which additionally helped me to develop even further.

MY PASSIONS

I am a keen triathlete and outside my work I train and race in middle distance and long-distance triathlons and hope that one day I will qualify for Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. I am also a Technical Official for triathlon races and help other triathletes to achieve their goals. I also love snowboarding and reading. I believe that my passion for reading will help me to get into translations of literature and my passion for triathlon will give me the strength to pursue my goal according to my plans.

My work and life motto is: ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE - which is also the Ironman motto. With hard and systematic work I believe I can make my dreams come true!
